On Sunday December 15, ARAT members organized workshops for two different groups of scout youngsters, with the purpose of introducing them the to the world of wireless communication and how it affects their daily lives.

-A presentation about ARAT and the activities it does by Ashraf Chabaane (KF5EYY), president of ARAT.
A debate will take place afterwards.

Non classéThe Association of Tunisian Radio Amateurs participated, in coordination with the Tunisian Scouts, in planning the Jamboree on air / on the Internet program, which was held this year on 19, 20 and 21 October 2018.
This year’s program was distinguished by its richness, abundance, and its diversity compared to previous years, and its integration to a certain extent, and was divided along the three mentioned days:
The first day program consisted of receiving participants, delivering words by the organizers, introducing the attendees to the program, and exposing them to the world of ham radio through a general and comprehensive workshop.
During the second day, the activities mainly consisted of the following:
– Workshop on how to use the radio, procedures for communication.
– Workshop to learn about the world of electromagnetic waves and antennas.
– Workshop to identify the world of digital communication, its importance in the world of amateur radio, and the methods adopted.
– Workshop to learn about the world of electronic programming with application example using Arduino.
– Workshop to identify the world of robotics and mechanisms using Arduino.
– Workshop to make a crystal receiver.
– ARDF Workshop
The day ended with a classic activity for this event, called the Great Game. This game is design to mainly test what the participants have learnt from the various workshops. It consisted of dividing them into several teams, who’s tasks are making an antenna and then finding a station with scattered components, then install it, and then operate on it, in order to experiment with the antennas made and at least obtain a correct call sign.
All teams were able to pass through all stages one of which managed to make a successful QSO.
The game was followed by a ceremonial atmosphere of a Tunisian scout tradition, which is known as “Camp fire”.

Non classéOn October the 31st, 2018, the Association of Tunisian Radio Amateurs, ARAT paid a visit to the radio broadcast station related to the National Television Broadcasting Office in Sidi Mansour, Sfax. The association members who participated in the visit were accompanied by the president of the station Mr. Abdesslam Sassi, who presented briefly the history of the station, and explained thoroughly it’s systems and used antennas.
The Sidi Mansour station is considered to be the only station in the republic of Tunisia that transmits on the shortwave bands to the Middle East, Europe, and the Arab Maghreb. The station also has the capacity to operate on medium wave band.
The association would like to extend its upmost gratitude to the National Office of Telediffusion and all of it’s persons in charge especially Mr. Fathi Abichou the operations director, and Mr. Abdesslam Sassi the president of the station for their cooperation.

Non classéFor the second time, and after a long time of waiting, specifically from April the 25th, the day of the class 1 and 2 ham radio licenses to September the 28th, the National Frequencies Agency (ANF) invited the applicant who passed the exams to obtain their licenses, those who attended were the invited individuals, 6 from them are ARAT members, along with their companions, the team managing the Amateur radio dossier, and a group of the agency’s top officials.
The event started with a word delivered by the agency’s president Taoufik Rojbi, Followed by the president of private networks services Mehdi Hmem, and then the ham radio dossier’s managing team members. Later on, the licenses were delivered in a ceremonious atmosphere, and then a discussion between all the attendees took place regarding the hobby, its importance and impacts, and the challenges it faces on different scales.

-Summary of Wael Dahesh and Mohammed Bouzemmi’s activity in the “Yongsters On The Air” (YOTA) event in SouthAfrica this year.
– discussion of the (JOTA/JOTI) program sheduled on 19, 20 and 21 October 2018 at Borj Cedria station (3V8CB).
This meeting was an opportunity to consider new ideas and activities that will be planned in the near future.

Non classéOn the weekend of Saturday the 28th, and Sunday the 29th of April, ARAT made a 2 day long workshop in the international camping centre of Borj Cedria station 3V8CB, for young ham enthusiasts and scout members. The workshop consisted of and introductive workshop and establishing QSOs for the new and unexperienced participants, discussing technical challenges and making antennas for those who have experience. With the end of the activity, discussions took places between all participants regarding it, and a Pile Up with numerous and interesting QSOs from around the globe took place.

NewsDuring his 2 week long vacation in Tunisia, Uwe DL8OBF, president of RRDXA, and one of WRTC 2018 Directors, got in touch with the Tunisian Ham radio society. He started his visit with meeting the president of ARAT Ashraf Chabaane in Sousse, then paid a visit on the 25th and 26th of Mars to the 3V8CB station in Borj Cedria where he met ARAT’s members Ahmed, Majdi and Ben. He first had a short tour around, then spent the 2 days mainly operating from that station in the WPX contest, and had DX conversations with the members.
